WHERE THIS DOCTRINE OF THE
TRINITY CAME FROM?
(…baptizing in the
name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.)
No, no from the lips of our
risen Savior, no from the pen of Apostle Matthew.
After ten years
of writing “One God “ letters to Trinity Ministers across country+, only once I
wrote about “Baptism”: “UNTO WHAT WERE YE BAPTIZED?” Acts 19:3. Today I feel the urge to claim
up the mountain of inspiration and bring down to earth words of plain language to say exactly how the words in Matthew 28:19
about baptizing believers came to be and by whom. My materials as always it has been: Church History and Old and New Testaments;
however, for this particular issue I will be force to made use of “tradition”. So bear with me.
First of all, I
want to clarify this point about “church fathers:” Tertullian, Justin, Origen, Cyprian etc. has been called “Fathers
of The Church” and if the reader stops to think, you will realize that “what they” fathered was the Roman/Greco
Catholic Church! But, some times the thought has been given that these fathers are the Church of the Apostles by calling them:
our early Fathers. It is not the case; they did not fathered The Church of The
Apostles of The Lord Jesus Christ; the Apostles fathered the Apostolic Church. The word of God calls her The Bride of Christ;
the Mother of denominations
is not The Virgin Bride!
Making a fast pass
reference to Tertullian, since in past letters it has been made mention of him, now only I would like to refer to him as the
one who wrote about baptism saying “we are immersed trice, one for each person”. The Apostles never baptized by
immersing three times. He wrote it about the end of the second century, he was one of the first called fathers of the church!
But before him there
was Justin; better known as Father Justin The Martyr, a young pagan learning philosophy, who got converted by a free thinker
old preacher man around Samaria.
Here it is that
I will make use of “tradition” which is considered “history
of no much authority; You be the judge.”
Tradition says that
Simon the man who used magic and got converted in Samaria’s revival but never received the Holy Ghost since Peter told
him “…your heart is not right with God…” Acts.8 :21; years
later he met Peter again and throw this assertion to him, …In Genesis I:26 says that God said “Let us make man…”
Now the “Let us” depicts more that one God there… .
What we see here?
It shows that The Apostles preached that God is One Single Deity and others preached God as divinities in One Being. Tradition
says that this man, that he preached with out the Holy Ghost baptism experience and taught plurality of gods from the beginning
of Creation. Sounds familiar? It should be; it is the mental concept in orthodoxy!
Tradition says that
the old preacher man by whom Justin got converted, talked mixing philosophy with Christianity; and Justin got attracted by
it; and he NEVER quitted his believe in pagan philosopher Plato about of whom he said he was right in saying that “…the
plurality
of beings in heaven
are invisible to the human eyes; only can be seen by faith…”
So we can see so
far that these three men agree in mixing Christian teaching with philosophy.
Also
we know that the old man did not taught “laying on of hands in order to receive the Baptism of The Holy Ghost”
as a subsequent experience. (one cannot give what he do not have).
Whether Justin was
baptized in water at that point or not it is not known; but he wrote of baptism in water for “remission of sins,”
“to be born of water,” “to be born again,” “to wash you to make you clean;” and as “triple
immersion In the name of God the Father Lord of the universe…, and the name of Jesus Christ… and in the name of the Holy Ghost.”
Now, let’s
decipher his teaching of baptism: (a) “remission of sins;” as Peter at beginning of The Church. (b)“Born
of water;” as Jesus to Nicodemus, before the Church, (c) “to be born again” same as to Nicodemus, (d) “to
wash you to make you clean;” as Ananias to Saul; all from Scriptures. (e)
And triple immersion; (no from the Scriptures) one for each person (no from the Scriptures) which Tertullian adopted from
him, and confessed “…we are trice immersed making a somewhat ampler
response that the Lord appointed in the gospel.” (contrary to the Scriptures).
Others also adopted
Justin’s mode to baptize, they had that privilege using the three titles of God in other modes; and innovations were
made also in Rome before The Council of Nicea 325 A.D. One, saying “…baptize in God, in Jesus Christ in the Spirit
Holy…”
Nevertheless, there
is not historical evidence of anybody been baptized, or somebody who baptized any one using the words supposedly given by
resurrected Lord Jesus; as they appear in Matthew 28:19 now days, from the days of early Christianity to the days of Father
Justin 200 A.D. All that, because the Doctrine of The Trinity was not fully developed; they even try this:
“…The
Trinity consists of The Father, The Virgin Mary, and their Son…”
Father Justin not
only has the credit of the new norm of baptism, but remember his teacher taught
“…another God besides the Unbegotten God…” He spoke of “The Word” of John 1:1 as
“…the Second God…” “…God the Son…” “…God the Word/Logos…”
Then Jesus began to be called The God-Man (second God next to another. = IDOLATRY) by Father Origen; then Father Cyprian insisted
in leaving behind the Jews baptism; and that the new form be made the rule instead of the older norm. Acts 2:38 then, became
a baptism for the Jews and the new formula for the Gentiles; according to them. How
about that?
After 325 A.D. Emperor
Constantine built 50 churches in Constantinople, and ordered 50 Bibles for them; made by Historian Father Eusebious who wrote
on the end of Matthew with out the phraseology known today. In less than a hundred years, the churches were destroy, and so
the bibles; never a thing was said.(?) After Eusebious’ death, his writings had Matt.28:19 on it;
by then, Father
Donatus had done the N. T. trans. to Latin plus the writings from Eusebious with omissions, alterations, and interpolations
that reflected the newly doctrine of the to be called Roman Catholic Church. And
Father Jerome said Amen to it, with his Vulgate Translation.
That is the background
of the words “baptizing in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost that were accepted in the Council
of Nicea 325.A.D. and affirmed in the Council of Constantinople 381 A. D. and interpolated in the gospel of Matthew at translation
to Latin. From there on, Popes began to make assertions such as: …baptism
in the name of Jesus, is a pagan baptism…, …baptism in the name of Jesus, is the heretics baptism…, …baptism
in the name of Jesus, was in their error…, … baptism in the name
of Jesus, is null… It is now the sayings of Trinity Christendom; yet there
is the reason why in the Acts of The Apostles, is the lack of evidence of Trinitarian baptism! Then at 633 A. D. at the Council
of Toledo; Pope Gregory determined that baptism should be administered by single immersion. And at 700 A.D. The Albilgenses
began to expose the interpolation at end of Matthew by showing it from The Original Hebrew Text. And it is what I been mentioning for years to you protestant trinity
preachers even today.
