Greetings in The Name of The Lord.
This letter is being sent out without discrimination of denomination to Ministers of The Word of God across the country,
beginning at my “Jerusalem”. (Idaho Falls, Idaho.)
In December of 1998, in the Christmas edition of Billy Graham’s “Decision” magazine, there appeared a
message by this most renowned evangelist, in which The Lord Jesus is presented as The Everlasting Father. He states, and I
quote: “He is from everlasting to everlasting”, “He had no beginning and He has no end”,
“He is The Designer of the entire universe”; at the closing he made this appeal to his readers: “…My
prayer today, is that the message of Christmas will be a personal message to you. That Jesus will be Advocate and Counselor
and Everlasting Father to you…” How about that? That Jesus will be Everlasting Father, TO YOU!
Since the time of the Council of Nicea, some 300 years A.D. Christianity has been made to believe that the term “Everlasting
Father” has no applicability to Christ at all!. But does it? And if it does, and one wrestles with such a meaningful
description, which was then a part of the Eternal Royal Titles of The Lord, does not such “wrestling” deteriorate
the relationship between the believer and The Advocate and Counselor? And how, can one make his profession of faith in Jesus,
secure?
Christendom has lost thousands of so called “born again” people who with their eyes wide open, have joined
false movements; New Age”, “Children of God”, and the newest, “Jesus Seminars”. Why does this
happened?
Because their relationship with Jesus was deteriorated, I am sure. So, I ask, Is Isa. 9:6 in all it’s completeness,
an optional Scripture? Was ever an optional Scripture?, It most be NOW AND AGAIN,
A general theological conviction!
I know that the term EVERLASTING FATHER in regard to the Lord Jesus is NOT A POPULAR TERM
Now a days among Christians. But how can one in good conscience discard it? How can one deprive The Lord KING OF THE SAINTS
of His Honor in His own right?. Since it has never been safe to abandon one’s conscience in regards to an “unpopular
Scripture of The Word of God”, my choice is to be faithful to it, as my understanding makes an adequate allowance.
It has been said that Isa. 9:6 is a “very obscure” verse of The Bible. That it “stands alone in saying
that He is The Everlasting Father”, (imagine that) A verse that belongs to Jesus only. So, knowing that the Word of
God does not contradict itself, and Scripture clarifies Scripture; I will mention that the same writer who wrote Isa. 9:6
also wrote that The Lord God of Israel was the FATHER, that The Holy One of Israel was THE FATHER, that God the Rock of Israel
was THE FATHER,THEIR REDEEMER FATHER.
Now then, in the Apostles Doctrine (the salt that seasoned grace), throughout the Epistles, one can see that “they”
called the glorified Jesus. Both, “Lord and Christ”, “King of glory” “THE FATHER”, “
our REDEEMER,” “THE FATHER,” “The Holy One”, “THE FATHER”, and the spiritual Rock
that followed them. “CHRIST WAS THAT ROCK,” “THE FATHER!”
The above array of Scriptures, does it not say something? I KNOW IT DOES! It says NOW, what the term “CHRIST OF GOD”
said to the unbelievers of Israel then! For it was an offensive term to them! Much like calling Jesus, EVERLASTING FATHER
is to the church, (Spiritual Israel) today.
But however offensive or repugnant that term “CHRIST OF GOD” was, the Apostles used it constantly to prove
by THE SCRIPTURES, that in all reality, Jesus WAS “THE CHRIST OF GOD”. And so it is with this writer, that the
above assertions from Isaiah’s writings, and The Apostles Doctrine, are forever settle in my heart, I cannot betray
my conscience and my conviction about The Lord Jesus being THE EVERLASTING FATHER as well as THE ALMIGHTY GOD, COUNSELOR,
PRINCE OF PEACE etc. That introduction has never been DIVORCED from Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same, yesterday,
today, and forever”.
Now then, How about you, fellow Minister? How about this Christmas? And the next? And the ones after that? Will you mention
and explain to your sheep “how” and “why”, Jesus is called The Everlasting Father?
Think about the THOUSANDS who read that statement by Billy Graham last Christmas! “...that HE (JESUS) WILL BE AN
EVERLASTING FATHER TO YOU”! Perhaps He already is to some in your congregation!
I would like to join Dr. Graham in his words:
“THAT HE WILL BE, AN EVERLASTING FATHER TO YOU”
Because of Him.
